Life experiences: The development of the disorder is believed to be linked to long term exposure to abuse, poverty, violence or drugs. Personality: Research suggests that your personality type may determine whether or not you are susceptible to developing this disorder.

How is General anxiety dealt with?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (see my CBT page) is highly recommended by the medical profession for the Treatment of anxiety. I tend to use CBT and hypnosis together (cognitive hypnotherapy) both to identify negative thinking and find more balanced thoughts and to help you to de-stress with hypnotic relaxation. Mindfulness (living in the here and now) is also recommended by NICE (the National Institute for health and care excellence) for helping reduce anxiety.
Sometimes GP’s prescribe anti-depressants for a short period of time in addition to any other therapies.
